You're Uncertain

Hi, impact-driven entrepreneur! šŸ˜Š I hope last week was full of progress and fun times. I explored an outdoor foodie market and went to Andrew Yeungā€™s OOO After Party! Iā€™ve had many great conversations last week, and one of the most important ones was actually with ChatGPT. Based on a marketing trick I learned, I pasted WeStandā€™s value proposition and alternated between prompting ā€œwhyā€ and ā€œhow,ā€ asking it to continuously ā€œlower the reading levelā€ until I got to the simple root of why people care about what Iā€™m creating. It is ā€œreducing costly people problems and the stress surrounding them.ā€ I suggest this trick to make it easier to communicate your vision with others.

Here is the Spotify link to the episode!

  • Team dynamics

  • Starting with the end in mind

  • Lots of book and content recommendations

šŸ˜¬ So Youā€™re Uncertainā€¦

Something unexpected has happened, and your team is looking to you for what to do next. You have no idea. Yikes. Here are my thoughts based on an HBR articleā€¦

  • Increase trust by being transparent. You do not have to pretend everything is figured out

  • Keep a list of times youā€™ve successfully navigated change

    • When something unexpected happens, thereā€™s nothing more motivating than reminding yourself you can do it again by reading your own success stories. You have years of evidence stacked in your favor

  • Replace doubtful thoughts with, ā€œIt might be tough, but Iā€™ll learnā€ and ā€œMy track record proves Iā€™ve turned uncertainty into an incredible new path beforeā€

  • Brainstorm what to do next, and decide on the first action step you will take

  • Think about your mentors and broader network. Who has the knowledge you need?

When your team sees you being so proactive, it will motivate them to dig deep and take action rather than get paralyzed by fear or confusion. You set the tone.

šŸ“… Reminder: Free Event on Sept. 15thā€”Walk, Talk, and Change the World: Meet Impact-Driven Entrepreneur Friends

Making like-minded friends in NYC can be tricky, so letā€™s change that! Iā€™m hosting a walk-and-talk event just for impact-driven entrepreneurs like you.

ā€‹No sales pitches, no business dealsā€”just real conversations. Share your passions, swap stories, and connect with others who care as much as you do :) Weā€™ll break the ice, dive deep, and get a little exercise while weā€™re at it!

šŸ¤ People Skills Accelerator Testing - 4 Sessions to Support Your Favorite Cause:

Iā€™m thrilled that more impact-driven entrepreneurs would like to join WeStandā€™s people skills accelerator even though cohort one is closed. Reducing costly people problems and stress seems to be what you all care about!

So in the meantime before opening up a second WeStand cohort in October, you can learn the same systems and methods through four 30-minute one-on-one meetings with me! I will help you build a second brain system and learn psychology principles for navigating four key connections: two professional (mentors and teammates) and two personal (romantic relationships and friends). Donate $50 to your favorite nonprofit, and then we can get started. Letā€™s make the world a better place in more ways than one. I have five spots open.

Fill out this form if youā€™re interested, and Iā€™ll send you more details!

Iā€™m proud of you and believe in you,
Ginny

P.S. What is WeStand today?

*Messaging updated weekly:

WeStand is a people skills accelerator for impact-driven entrepreneurs to reduce costly people problems and stress. Weā€™re the supportive network that makes the world a better place. The vision is two parts:

1. Impact-driven entrepreneur cohorts focused on choosing and navigating four relationships: two professional (mentors and teammates) and two personal (friends and significant others). Speed up success with psychology tips and the support of like-minded friends in small accountability groupsā€”no need to learn the hard way. Apply here: https://westand.carrd.co/

2. Once our network is big enough, match with mentors, teammates, friends, and significant others! Everyone in the community will have learned healthy people skills. There's a higher likelihood of these relationships working out!

Why people skills?

  • 65% of startups fail due to people problems (HBS), like slacking or toxic teams, mishandling conflicts, and burnout from stretching too thinly. Personal issues like losing friends, isolating yourself from important people, and rocky romantic relationships can also lower the chances of business success. My 170+ interviews confirmed that entrepreneurs with better people skills were more successful and fulfilled.

Why impact-driven entrepreneurs?

  • We often have higher rates of burnout, people-pleasing, and obsession with our work, worsening people problems. Iā€™m also sick of people not realizing their dreams of positively impacting the world.

Am I an impact-driven entrepreneur?

  • Are you on a mission to create something bigger than just a profitable business? Something that goes beyond personal interests or money goals and makes the world a better place?

  • ā€‹Does your work light up one of these areas? šŸŒ

    • ā€‹Health

    • ā€‹Environment

    • ā€‹Education

    • ā€‹Social Change

    • Cultural Change
