Feedback: the biggest mistakes

Hey social impact entrepreneur! After multiple rounds of feedback from my mentors and customers, I wondered why some conversations moved the needle, and others left me confused or stressed out. I found a feedback formula that can help!

WeStand Wrap-Up

Does the way you give feedback make people want to jump back to work, even if it’s a challenging topic?

If your feedback is unclear or too negative, you’re wasting time. Tough love can leave people feeling down—it takes longer to bounce back. Research shows it’s more effective to be positive, honest, and clear.

Unhelpful feedback:

  • Personal

  • General

  • Demotivating

Productive feedback:

  • Focused on tasks

  • Clearly states the next action steps

  • Energizing

  • Structure: “I like, I wish, what if” (read more from the Interaction Design Foundation here)

Let’s have more needle-moving conversations!

Here for you,
